Strange rubbing sound

alright, ive got a 93 bronco xlt w/ 5.8 and E4OD. as i was driving home today i got up to a hill and had to stop for traffic before taking a left turn. i hit the gas pretty hard in order to get through(oncoming car was coming up fast) and i heard a loud klunk followed by this rubbing/pulsating on the short drive to my house. additionally, whenever going to turn at anything "sharp"(ex: something around a 90 degree turn) loud klunks can be heard. im not sure if this is steering related(i was told a while back that my steering system showed a lot of wear). im really unsure as to whats wrong here, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would check each front wheel to see if you have a bad wheel bearing, or the 4wd hub is bad. You can put a block under the axle to raise the wheel off of the ground, then see if you have any noise while turning the tire/wheel. Also check for any slack in-and-out or up-and-down.

I have the same issue. It only happens on 90 deg left hand turns, when i start to straighten out. I get a popping noise and can feel the vibration thru the floor boards. I just had my rad-arm bushing replaced and my cross-member tightened up and the shop swears its neither of these on reinspection. I only have 40k and it never did this before the bushing replacement. It does not happen on right hand turns. Its been back to the shop twice with no resolve. I'm replacing all 6 of shocks next week with edelbrocks and while its jacked up I'm checking everything in the front. I guess my recommendation is start with a visual of your rad-arm bushings -then start inspecting to see if any frame rivets are loose and are moving and scratching the frame. Good luck !

Ahh, yes, new ball joints, old rod ends. Fix one, the new components take out the old ones. Like doing a valve job on the heads after 150K and finding out a month later that all that tight seal and compression on the top side has now blown out the tired old rings.
