I have a 68 F100 390 2 barrel carb. I think it's the 2100, float in front, idel screws in front, acc pump on drivers side front, 2 screws + center hold down stud, manual choke.
The book says the fuel level should be 1/4" from the top of the carb, I can't seem to get to that. It's running very good at 1/2" from the top and if I raise it any more, the float actually hits the top of the carb and floods.
Is the book just wrong?
What's the actual float adjustment on these?
I also have the model 2100 carb. I rebuilt it this past summer and all I did was follow the directions on setting the float. I don't think the 1/2 inch is for fuel level. I think its the top of the float that is to be 1/4 inch from the top when the needle valve is shutting off the fuel flow. That would probably put the fuel level at around 1/2 inch from the top. What really matters is that you have sufficient fuel in the bowl to run the vehicle. I had to take the top off my carb a few times while I was getting my rig running and I don't remember exactly but if I had to guess I'd say that 1/2 inch is about right for having plenty of fuel in the bowl.
