have this leak I can not figure where it is coming from . I have a 351w that is in a 87 bronco. ther leak apears to be from the front right of the motor. I thought it was the valve cover gasket so I replaced it. but the leak is still there. so . I cant find out where it is coming from but the power stearing res always has stuff on it. I ran the motor and I cant see any oil leaking from the valve cover. the only other thing I can think of is it is comeing from the area around the intake man. The wierd thing is I put a qt of oil in(because of the oil lose) and forgot to put the cap on and it didnt leak.
Try changing your PCV and crank case filter also make sure your getting plenty of vacum to the PCV. These two items are the cause of a lot of oil leaks and are the most over looked. When you leave the oil fill cap off it lowers the case pressure so that oil is not pushed out. A properly operating case ventilation system will keep this pressure down on it's own provided you don't have a blow by problem that over powers the system.
i do have some blow by. i think I will replace my filter and see if that works. but what about the leak wont it get worse if i dont find it and fix it.
i did replace the pvc valve twice in the last month. I found out part of the problem was the guy I bought it from had two pvc vales on it and one of them needed to be the breather so to much presure was causeing the oil to leak out of a thin spot in the gasket but no sure witch on but I know its not the valve cover now.
