Hi All,
I've got a "manufactured by Holley for Ford" 600cfm 4180. Tag says its an '83 model year.
I'm looking to replace the 450cfm on my 460 that breathes well and is built to pull. Question is, should I use this carb, or pony up the $ for a Holley Street Avenger 670cfm?
The 4180's aren't as user friendly as the Avenger is. they are an emissions carb with lean idle circuits and the plugs must be drilled out to even access them. And you will need a special carb adjusting tool to adjust it. I would personally prefer the 4160 over the 4180.
I've got a 4160 600cfm on top of my 351m, I've been happy with it. But you may want to get the avenger just for the added cfm. My 4160 dumps plenty of gas for mine but that 460 is gonna be quite a bit hungrier.
