I'm looking into buying a diesel truck but I haven't heard good thing about the fords.. My friend lemon lawed his 2004 powerstroke and so did my co-worker, he had a 2003... My wifes co-worker 2002 will not start anymore and Ford is sending a tech from michigan to find out why.. The Ford dealer has no idea why they can't get it to run..
I heard GMC is re-designing in 06 and that the Duramax is a good strong engine with over 605 footpounds of torque for pulling....I like the 05 psd but I'm very worried about the reliability factor...My next door neighbor has a 04 duramax and raves about it.. I hear good things about the GMC's also.
first welcome to the site, don't let what you hear or read make you shy away from the ford just because you heard something or know some one. take a look down the motor listing and read all the psd posts, you will most likely change your mind, these guys hold nothing back and lay it on the line as far as truth goes ,
every engine builder has some problems with a new engine in the first year . the biggest problems with a diesel i see in my shop is the fuel. its either got water in it that a diesel can not handle or its not so good a grade and causes problems.
do yor self a service! left side general pull down untill you find the psd area and read . ask some ?'s if you feel so needed. again these men and ladys will lay it out for you.

I work as an apprentice technician at a Ford dealership and I can tell you the super duty's are decent trucks. I agree that the 2003's had troubles, the 2004's were better. Introducing a new engine and transmission combo, you're going to have bugs. They pretty much have them worked out now. I think the torque-shift is an ok transmission as long as you take care of it. It can handle a large load if you don't romp on it too hard and keep the fluid flushed, etc.
Don't count out the fords, do your reaserch and then deside either way. I have only heard of 1 person that I deal with having any major problems with the new 6.0L and know of at a lot more that love the truck. I deal with construction contractors so I see a lot of everything and most guys that have the diesels go with the fords and love them.
most all the Caltrans trucks(state highway contractor), Tow trucks, Police Trucks, Ambliances, Delivery trucks, contractors trucks, tow vehicles(rv'ers), and the farmers all have mainly ford diesels. i'd say in every 15 fords theres 2 chevy's. The vehicles i am talking about are mainly 6.0 diesels and the last year 7.3's. Now if they weren't a reliable truck then why would so many people have Fords. Every one of the CHP, Sherrifs, Police dept. have ONLY ford crown vics. Just trying to show you why i have a ford. It's not newer or new it's a 78 F-250 but there's still so many driving around 73-79's that it means they're a good truck and tons of people love them.

i wouldnt own anything but a PSD. i have not talked yet to a person face to face that has had a problem with their PSD. all the problems i see are usually on here. i hear nothing but great things about the PSD no matter if they are new or used. My step dad drives one for the company he works for and they also have a new durajunk. he said the PSD will out run the durajunk empty or full and also said that they have had nothing but probs with it and he is not the only person i have talked to face to face that has had alot of probs with the durajunk. now as for the dodge. i wouldnt buy anything they have to offer. it might be the all mighty cummins in it but the truck its self is no good. all the magazines have picked the PSD over the cummins and i talked to a guy i bowl with and he is trying to sell his dodge. when i asked him why all he ahd to say was "i should have bought the ford".
