Need Tranny Info Quick

Got a Problem, My starter somehow came loose by itself And when I turned the key it started the truck and stripped all the teeth of the flywheel. My clutch was already getting pretty bad so I already have a new flywheel and clutch. My real issue is that I have A 2wd '67 With a 3 speed and was planning on swapping it dor a NP-435, But I need to tow a chevy to the junkyard this week. What modifications need to be done(tranny mounts, Drive shaft length) done for this swap. If its too much work for the time beeing I'll just keep the 3 speed till spring and do the 435 then.

Sorry for the long explanation and thanks for any help!

the cross member will have to be moved for the tranny mount, and your driveshaft will need to be lengthend. that and cut a hole in the floor plate or change the floorplate. be great if you could find a shaft out of a 67-72 with the same tranny in it.

Ryan, Any reason not to just put it back together and pull the truck to the bone yard with the 3 spd?

I recently swapped out a ford 3 speed for a warner t98 in my 66....bellhousings are identical....if yoke is the same on both trans, should be a direct bolt in, but since you gotta drag a bowtie to where it belongs...I'd use the 3 speed...slow and steady wins the race...

As to loose starter....bolts have lockwashers on them ????

Hope this sheds a bit of light on things....cs65

As for the starter no lock washers, But I havent ever touched the starter since I bought the truck almost 2 years ago. Gonna do the clutch tommorw, Thanks for all the help. BTW it seems hard to find older fords in the junkyards around St. Louis If anyone knows a place let me know.
