I have a 1985 F-150 with a 300 six. I don't have spark. I have replaced the module on the outside of the distributor as well as the Hall-Effect unit inside and still no spark. Does anyone have any ideas where my problem could be and some help on how to find it.
Another major component in this type system is the computer. All this parts replacing can get expensive, and not many people including me know much about this type of ignition. Most people convert it over to duraspark II or aftermarket ignition, but I hate to incourage people to re-do their ignition system unless they feel confident in doing it themselves.
Does it spark if you cycle the ignition key?(off and on)
If not, check for power at the caoil, and check for ground too. Make sure that your ground strap from the engine to firewall is in place, etc. Also, if there is a dedicated ignition ground running to the distributor, it is a good idea to add a wire from this to the batt - terminal
