With my SCMT I've had a few instances where shifting was sloppy and several where it was neck snapping. I'm not one who has their foot in it all the time (unless they need some soot on the windows) but the shifting was way too rough. If I could have that power without the funky inconsistant shifting I would be happier than a three.....billy goat.
I still wonder if the ECM code has anything to do with how the SCMT programs effect it. I have heard this before, but have no idea,The Tuners are made to work on a wide range of trucks, One size fitz all is not always the right size. My truck has the VDH2 code ECM, it actually had an almost firm shift straight out of the box new, not sloppy at all. Much better with the SCMT though...

I have the same code (VDH2) and my truck shifs just fine. it is a totaly different truck.
not sure what code my truck has. But a Ford dealer called superchips and told them how it was shifting w/ the program in, and sc told them to see if it was the latest program, which it had the latest as of Oct. Not many dealers will help with mods.
I've had both the 1700 SCMT and the 1705,,, the 1700 is 60hp and 80hp,, It was much stronger on the 60hp setting than the 70 or the 90hp program on the 1705 on my truck. The shifts were alot firmer with the 1700 but the 1705 still gives my truck a nice firm shift. Only thing I dont like about the 1705 is that the shift from 3rd to OD is firm but the second it shifts the torque convertor locks too, kinda bogs the motor for a minute and sounds funny. If you hammer on it, it will shift to OD and then about a minute later the TQ locks,, much nicer. If it wasnt for the code reader i would rather have the 1700 for sure..My fuel mileage never changed much,, drive it right it gets 16-17, hammer on it all the time pullin the boat and it hangs about 14mpg.
Thanks for giving me a truthful answer. I'm happy with what I have, but if they came out with something that was REALLY diffferent than what I have now I was going to spend the money
Backhoe, I have towed my horse trailor quite a bit and I've never had an issue. Did you get the codes read off your computer. If not, use your SCMT to get the code off and see what the problem was or is.
