460 sputter sputt bang
Hi, Problem is 88 F-350 460 EFI ran fine in morning, smoking a little more blue than I remember. Drove about 1 hour and parked. Now it's hard to start, stumbling no power smoking lots and backfires. Few hours later no go at all, picks up and stumbles for a few seconds backfires and dies. Now nothing but cranking, it speeds up like it wants to go and then nothing. I changed fuel filter, checked for spark (there is), Fuel pressure at injectors. Checked cap and rotor (ok), There's fuel in truck, Fuses OK. It didn't want to go with a little shot of ether. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I would get a fuel pressure gauge from your local part store and check the pressure going into the injectors. I had the same problem on my 92 f-250 with a 460 and found it to be a bad fuel pressure regulator. The regulator was rather cheap to the tune of about 30.00. I hope this will help
