Don't feel bad about the shake I have the same problem 1997 4.2L 67,000 miles. Some times you notice it and sometimes you don't. But like yours it goes away with a little gas. Had a mechanic from the dealer tell me that it could be "carbon on the valves" or he said that my throttle body had a little carbon build up, so I will have to clean it when I could get a chance.

isnt there some kind of print on the throttle body that says "DO NOT CLEAN" due to some special coating used on it? i know mine says that lol well, ive heard from consumer report that the 4.2 V6 is a little more noisy, and a lil bit more shaky than the V8s... so im almost positive what you are experiencing is normal, since ive been told that the V8s are this way as well... i wouldnt look into the valves, if the car is running good, and gas mileage and acceleration are good, everything else should be good as well right now? on a good tank, where i didnt hit WOT at all, i will probably get 14-15 MPG avg.
