wiring cd player

I have a Panasonic Cd player someone put in my truck.
Everytime you turn the truck off you have to go through 4 diffrent functions to get the radio back where I had it.
The radio doesnt stay where it was when you turn truck off?
Is this just a fact of life or is it wired wrong?

Sounds like the 12v (constant) is not where it should be, and thus, not retaining memory. (Most times its yellow, and i run direct to the batt)

Sounds like either a faulty HU, and if that's the case take it back. Or like renegadesrun said, your constant isn't hooked up. The memory wire, which is red, may be hooked up to your ignition wire, which would let it work, but you won't retain memory, and it can probably hurt the HU because it may not be getting all the power it needs.

I just "red" my post, and realized i only posted half the thought. Yea, the red wire can be jumped in along side the radio fuse with a blade connector. If the red is switachable (ie only comes on when key is on) and the yellow is always hot you should b in business. BTW.....I ALWAYS run my own ground. Never depend on a vehicles stock ground.

A test light will help. When done and all is as it should be, deck should be fine. If not, id say its braindamaged.

Betting its wiring.

Running your own ground is a good thing to do too. I need to do that myself, it will give you a cleaner connection, and can also give you more power from the internal amp of the HU.
