Called my dealer today and they are replacing it no questions asked. Of course, I'm still under warranty. The lady told me there was a recall on this part but I know I sure haven't gotten anything from Ford stating a recall on this part....the rear window lift gate struts yes, but not the bottom plastic part on the outside of the liftgate. Anyway, she said washer fluid builds up and interacts with the glue holding the part on causing it to crack under cold weather. Whatever...I'm just glad they are fixing it. And going to get the recall on those struts done at the same time.

It looks like I'll have to pay for this being that I bought the EXPL used from a Chevy Dealership, and that the truck has 53000 miles on it. I was quoted $220.00 at a Ford Dealership bodyshop. Good ol' tax returns will take care of this!
As I've stated earlier, I have had my share of problems with this truck. I have now noticed, that once in a while when down shifting at around 30 mph, it is clunking into the lower gear. So, it looks like I'll be bringing the truck back into the shop.

2002 Eddie Bauer with Cracked Liftgate

Same story here. Crack is about 5 inches long. I just noticed it about two weeks ago. I have about 56,000 miles on truck. I am going to the dealership for the strut recall some time this week.

Repair Stress Crack

I have a 02 Exp that this happened to...I contacted ford and told them this happened because the glass came crashing down (current recall for glass hinges) and it was replaced under that recall....other wise its a 400.00 repair.

What number is everyone calling at Ford (not the dealership). I think we all need to call in!
