looking into a 2 1/2" leveling kit, new shocks, and 16X10's with 315X75X16 mickey thompsons. The leveling kit is a add-a-leaf for the front spings. Is this a good or bad idea? Thanks for your help.
Can not say Deckguy, can only speak to what Ive done, 3.5'' shackel kit in the front with orignail srings, longer shocks, did put taller blocks on the back 2" run 295s on 16 by 10 welds and room to spare, will go to 35's on next set, Ive had the truck 22k with this, and love it good ride and level, Good luck
add a leafs are the cheap way to go and can stiffen up the ride. A hanger kit retains the stock springs so your ride will stay the same. what front springs do you have now.
it will depend on what you want to spend and what you want from the lift.
I added to leveling kit on the front and it did level the truck out. I did not really notice any difference in the ride. The kit consists of a spring and u-bolts. I put it on a 02 DPS.

I went with the Edge 2" mini-spring pack. It rides well, levels the truck out, and 295/16's fit very nice on 16x8 Weld's. I would be concerned with clearance on the 315's and just 2.5" of lift. I also added Bilstein's when I put my lift in.
Hi everyone. Just been asking alot of questions lately about my new truck 2004 F-450 SD 4X4 with the 350 bed conversion from Manning. My question on this thread would be will a leveling kit for a 350 work or will the shackel kit work better? Also my plan and the reason for leveling the truck would be to fit 255X70X22.5's under it with no clearance issues and try not to increase the already rough ride.
Any suggestions?? Thanks, JP
Deck guy,
Just from hear say, I agree that you may have clearance issues with the 315's with a 2 1/2" kit. I know that Donahoe Racing/Edge make a 3" hanger kit that they recommend running 305's. Superlift makes a leveling kit that has a brand new spring pack. I've heard good things about those. When I've talked to guys about their add a leaf leveling kits, many of them were very happy with them, however, after a year or two, theyhave noisey springs that they hear everytime they go over a bump.

Sorry to disagree but the 2.5 " kit with 35's is fine. I'm running 35's on my stock 00' f-250 and I don't have any problems at all with rubbing on the fenders, they do rub a little at full lock but that's it. I'm running stock alloy wheels but with 10" rims they would rub. The 2.5" kit is all you need. I just bought new Rancho RSX shocks and got the fronts for a 2.5" lift to allow for the leveling kit I'm going to put on the front.
A buddy just put on the Skyjacker leveling kit that includes an add-a-leaf and trac bar bracket for just over $200 from summit. So far he says it rides great and it added almost 3" total to the front but it should settle. I'm still not sure what I'm going to go with a hanger kit from Fabtech or R.E. or full spring kit from Pro-Comp.
I have a 2.5" leveling kit on my 02 PSD. I still have the stock wheels and tires. I was woundering if I can run 295/75/16 or 285/75/16 on the stock wheels. The stock wheels are 16x7 or do I need to go to the 16x8?
