Over drive
This is the best site on the web. I have a 99 f250 5.4 gas reg cab, automatic and was wondering everyones opinion about driving around town with overdrive on? Should i push the button on the gear shift to shut overdrive off at speeds below 40mph? Feels like my tranny is sluggish if I have the overdrive on.

I turn OD off when around town....the truck is way sluggish in OD. Also, when in OD and going up a slight grade, the RPM's drop to about 1100 to 1300 and knock...knock....knock.....until it downshifts. That is the biggest reason I drive with OD off......Plus if I forget to drop it back into OD when on the highway.....well ye ha....like driving with nitrous. At those speed you are in the real powerband of the engine....2500 to 3000 rpm.....by the way I have a 03' 6.8L V10.
