[updated:LAST EDITED ON 17-Jan-02 AT 01:26 PM (EST)]About 8 months ago I got a traffic ticket while travelling through Penn. (I live in MA.) I thought sure that I had paid it. Well, I got a letter from the state of PA saying I didn't pay it within the next 72 hours they'll issue a warrant for my arrest.
Well, I had to verify with my past checking statements that I, in fact, had forgot to pay. During that time the letter with all the contact information was thrown away. . The 72 hour deadline has since passed. Can the state of PA come to MA to get me? Or issue a warrant in MY state?
I'm gonna have to do some diggin' to get the proper contact info. In the mean time, I would rather not have to keep "looking over my shoulder" for the law.
Just for curiousity, what would YOU do if you were in my shoes? Pay it or forget it.
I think you need to check into paying it. If you get pulled over, they will see you have an outstanding violation, and might arrest you. I know for a fact that the states work together on this. My boyfriend had an outstanding ticket in Indiana, and North Carolina wouldn't renew his driver's license until it was paid.
I'm not sure about your area but around here(Iowa,Wisc,Ill)they dont bother with extradition for simple traffic tickets due to the fact the cost is more than MOST traffic tickets, now if it is a large fine then they might but for most simple speeding it isnt worth it, the officer will just tell you that their is a warrent for an outstanding ticket and will inform you as to how to get it paid, but on the other side of the coin if you get a young officer out to be a tough guy he will arrest you and keep you in the jail till it gets paid and cleared from the records
