99 Ranger Overheating Problems.
Of course down here in Txeas the lower hose is always too hot to touch.

Did The Test Having The Truck On A Slant And Watching The Coolant In The Radiator. Will Warming Up The Coolant Was Splashing Out And Had To Refill Alot. When The Thermostat Opened The Bubbles Came Up Out Of The Coolant. Did Not Check The Plugs Yet But Scheduled For A Head Gasket At Local Ford Shop. Today The System Did The Same Thing Blowing Coolant Into Overflow. Dropping Truck Off Tomorrow For Service. Will Let You Know What Happens.
Thanks,
Pat

replacement because of coolant leakage (on a 2000 4.0L). Cost me ~$1300
for both sides. But that also included a new serpentine belt, and new oil
pressure sensor, and plugs. I didn't go to the dealer though, went to a local
mechanic. I think the dealer would know your Ford better, and you gotta pay
a little extra for that.
BTW, what's the mileage on your '99?
Good luck!
There are a few items that rust out in the cooling system. Freeze plugs for one
The more likely issue is the same as the one in this thread, Blown Head Gasket.
Start troubleshooting by creating a new thread, then change the coolant to straight water, have the radiator boiled out at a good radiator shop, put it back together and see how it acts.
A blown head gasket will push combustion gases into the cooling system once the engine has reached operating temperature, this extra pressure and air (gases) cause reading issue on the temperature gauges.
