Shifting points???

Just got 1985 Bronco a few weeks ago. The engine seems to shift to higher gears too soon under acceleration. The shift point is around 3900 rpm. I have the 351w 4v ho, rebuilt the carb and also replaced modulator. Is this when the tranny is supposed to shift? If not... how do I adjust it? I just feel like it should go up to 4300 rpm or so. I haven't driven anything with a redline less than 6k lately, so my judgement may be cloudy. Sidenote" where does the modulator hose plug in anyway? In back of the carb?

Shifting points???

I'm not so sure as to where it is supposed to shift, because i've never had a tach in any of my trucks, but i do know that the modulator valve should be hooked to a full vaccum, and not ported, like your vaccum advance on the distributor, i think it should hook into the t-fitting on the back of your intake..

Yeah, that's about right for shift points. These engines are not built for hp, but for torque. As far as the modulator goes, it needs to be hooked up to manifold vacuum.
