It is probably a 205. The way to tell a 205 is to look at the rear of the tcase. There should be a small round cover plate with three bolts located on the back of it if it is a 205. If it doesn't have that plate, it is probably a 203 but I am not sure how to positively identify the 203.

203 has a big round aluminm cover on the back and is wider if the truck has a manual tranny it will be a 205 if its an automatic it could be either also the shifter is different the 205 has 4 positoins 4l-n 2h-4hi the 203 has 5 positions loloc-lo-n-hi-hiloc

try this, the biggest difference i see that is obvious is the shifters, the 205 has a rail with one shift arm, the 203 has two arms like on an old manual tranny lnkage setup

if the shift pattern is "high-loc, 4hi, N, 4low, low-lock" it is a np203
"4low, 2high, N, 4high" is a np205
"4low, 2high, N, 4high" is a np205
