truck running rough when cold

I just keep having trouble with my truck running smooth when cold still. I first had carb rebuilt a year ago exactly and ran good till about a month ago. It started running rough when cold and shaking and acting like it was going to die. One day when driving down highway it started running rough and when I stopped it did die. Would not crank for a few minutes. My friend rebuil the carb gain this week and even put new floats. It was running pretty good after but now is running rough agan when cold and shaking and I smell gas inside cab. I need help please

Sounds to me like you choke isnt working properly. Pull the electrical connector off the side of it, and check for power as a start....

Maybe your carburetor is icing up. What is the temperature like where you live? I live in Florida, I was traveling in New Hampshire during early winter and had a problem with carburetor icing. The truck just wouldn't run right. I had to tap the carburetor with a screwdriver handle to free whatever had frozen up.

I had to put it out there, it just sounded too familiar to me. The weather issue was the key with that one. That is why I asked what the weather was like.
