I completed my disc brake conversion on my 51. Now I'm told I need to install something called a metering valve. My truck has the adjustable proportation valve, and the residual valves in it. Does anyone have or know where I can get one reasonable.
Disc brake systems don't have residual valves. They are for keeping a small amount of p.s.i. in the system for the shoes. If you put one in a disc system you will wear pads quickly.
I have no idea what a metering valve would be used for ?

Mark, please go to www.mpbrakes.com under tech information, go to "setting up brakes" then scroll down to "disc brakes front and drum brakes rear with master under floor".
Then go to the FAQ section and look at the master cylinder under floor with adjustable prop valve. This is how my 51 is setup minus the Metering valve.

When you mount a master cylinder low things change. I didn't know that was what you were doing. Still not sure about a metering valve. M.P. is a good company that realy knows brakes. They wouldn't steer you in the wrong direction. I'd give them a call & ask them for a explanation. They have always been very helpful to me in the past.
Thanks Mark, I will be getting it on the street before the end of the month. I will drive it a little before intsalling metering valve, to be sure it needs it.
