I seem to have a yellow substance on my dipstick. It is the color of a banana. I do not think it is antifreeze. The truck is not running hot at all. I just had a flush and fill 1000 miles ago. I have also just changed the oil twice within the last couple of miles. I just bought the truck and I was trying to flush any debris out of the system. Could this be gunk that was knocked loose. Is it possible that it will go away next time I change the oil. Any help would really be appreciated. The truck is a '86 302 with 95000 miles. The truck is showing signs of blowby if that may be related some how. Thanks
Depending on how fresh the oil is, and what type of oil, you can get a yellow substance if you have condensation in the dipstick tube.
I've had this happen to me.
The first thing I would do before you drive it one more mile is drain the oil and look to see if it is the right color. If it isn't the typical black/brown, but instead it has a coffee color (with cream and sugar), you could be in trouble.
If the oil coming out of the pan looks normal, but and you only have this yellow color on the dipstick, don't worry.
Odds are the vehicle is only driven short distances, and the oil doesn't get hot enough to fully drive moisture out of the crank case.
That is pretty harmfull in and of itself, but it isn't going to cause the immideate destruction of your engine like having a coolant leak would.
