Can anyone tell me if a '91 fuel injected 300-6 will bolt up to small block motor mounts. I want to put one in my '63, swb customcab f100, and if it would bolt up to sbf motor-mounts it would make my job a whole lot easier. Any info would help a great deal.
the truck has a 292 with a 3 speed on the column. what I wanted to do is make something that is rarely see, at least in west texas, i.e. fuel injection. I may just build the y-block for a little more horsepower and call it good.
Lockley, I don't know what 63 motor mounts look like. I have a 73. It had a 240 which is the same block as a 300 in it when I bought it. I went to a 302 for a short time. The motor stands for the small block were no where near the same as the inline 6. In 63, were there some trucks available with FE's? The reason that I ask, is on a 73 model truck the FE and inline 6 are almost identical. Also, I'm sure there was a 6 cylinder application in 63. Try using those engine stands. Don't worry about messing with the after market stuff, there has got to be some sort of factory stuff that will bolt right in. Check the classifieds. Guys are always pulling out inline 6's for V8's. I bet you could find the 6 cylinder stands for cheap. That FI 300 in a 63 would be super cool. In 63, don't you have it set up to where the engine mount is in the front and then 2 on the bell housing?
I believe that ford started putting 240/300 inliners in in '65 or '66. if I could come up with a complete set of mounts I would use them ,but, all the parts catalogs ( lmc, dennis carpenter, ford obsolete) that I have do not have complete sets of mounts or all the pieces to buy separately. your righ about the 292 mounts that are in it now (1 up front, 2 out back) I may see if i can modify them to work seeing as how the sixes in 63 used the same set up.
I just pulled the 300 out of my son's 85 F-150 and still have the stand attached if you're interested. My problem is what stands to use on the 302 that I'm putting in. I'll be at the local bone yard this afternoon.
