There are 2 SD dually running around here in Va Beach that have been lifted and they put a single wheel on each rear. Why on earth would you pay the extra for a Dually and then negate the reason you bought it? Can someone please give me a good reason so I can stop thinking of these people as morons? I think it my just be a certain 4X4 Chop shop here selling people on the idea.
They are running like 38X15s or something of that size. The beg rear fenders just looks stupid over that one tire. I have seen duallys up on 38s before with 4 tires on the back and they look fine but that one tire crap is silly.
As long as the wheels and tires are rated for the same weight load as the combination of the duals, you aren't losing anything. The carrying capacity remains unchanged, so it isn't really defeating the purpose. Granted it may look odd, but to each his own.
know a couple landscape companies that bought used duallys and then placed only one tire on each rear to accomodate safely the weight they normally haul,,
they did not need the dual wheels nor want to pay for their replacement when they wore out,,
does look strange but they did not purchase for looks but for daily workers,,

I see a few running around in the winter but I think mostly thats because it's easier to make 1 tire path instead of two through the snow. Guess I cann't understand it where you live. It does look very goof none the less. Also there are two street trucks in town, both GMs that have been lowered and chopped and have a single wheels in the back of these duallys. They have a wide racing slick in place of the duals and as much as I hate to see a dually used as a street machine it looks pretty neat.
