Powerstroke Cutting Out

I have a 1995 PSD with 114k on it. The truck has recently been giving me trouble when it is idling. It has died twice on me while idling at a stoplight and at a fuel station. It runs fine and restarts with no hesitation. Any thoughts?

Welcome to the forum! Have you done any recent mods or services to your truck? Has the fuel filter or air filter been changed recently?

If you are able, see if it is capturing any codes in the ecm. You may be suffering from moisture in a connection, cam position sensor starting to act up, injection wiring or the connection at the fire wall. Have you purchased any "bad" fuel lately? Is there a time frame when it all started and have you done any work on the engine in that time frame. Are you noticing any type of acting up while cruising down the hiway? Try to pay close attention, make note of the actions and let us know what you come up with. We are all more than happy to help.

when was the last time u changed the fuel filter?? Could be a little clogged.... also there is a screen located inside the fuel filter bowl that needs to be cleaned out when the filter is changed. It is located on the drivers side of the dowl, there is a small hole w/ a screen in it... clean this out CAREFULLY w/ q-tips till they come out clean. Button everything up and you should be fine.... I was having the same problem you are describing and this cured it right up... good luck!!

I'm going to vote for the Cam Position Sensor.

Thanks guys

I changed the fuel filter 5K ago and the air cleaner is clean. I have not done any mods with the truck and I always get my fuel at a place that sells quite a bit of it. Additionally it has just started doing it now that it has gotten cold here in Indiana. Like I said earlier, no problems going down the road normally, just at an idle. I am leaning towards the CPS myself and checking into that screen cleaning as soon as I can. Thanks for the advice and let me know if you think of anything else.
