If you look at your dash, right in the center at the bottom of the cup holders , there is an open spot that looks like it has a hook on it. What is that for?
It's to hang your coat on, well maybe your hat. Who knows I believe it is a trash bag holder. I don't know who the Einstien at FMC was that came up with that idea but I think it is a waste of space and I will never use it. I'm wating for some aftermarket company to come out with something really cool to put in its place. It was convienent though when I went to add my glove box light beings it didn't come with my truck.
I was curious myself why would they put that there. Me and my buddies were drinkin the other night and the topic came up. We debated for hours (yes we are real boring people). After a few Bud lights we decided to hang a spotlight from it. Works pretty good. I guess they have to charge us extra for something!
I've only had my truck for a few weeks and still
trying to figure out what to use it for too.
At first I thought it was for shades.... but they
kept falling off. Then I put a plastic grocery bag
on it for garbage... but it keeps falling off.
The spotlight sounds like a good idea. But do I really
need that up front? I think I'll just hang my earpeice
on it for my cell phone but I suspect it will fall off too.
That little hook works great for the T-shirt type bags that fast food places use. This way, your order is not sliding all over the place. I use mine everytime I have food from take-out.

jetact, how did you install the glove light? I had a 2002 XLT SD with glove light and door lights. Now, my 2004 Lariat, does not have one stinkin' light! Go figure.......

I know can you believe you pay 45K for a truck and it doesn't have basic things like that. On the 05 it was easy. You can order the glove box light for FMC part number is E7DZ-14413-A and 2 female tab connectors and 2 12-16" pieces of wire and 2 wire taps. Plug the wire into the back of the light and feed it throught the hole that is there where the light should have been and towards the hook. On the 05 take out the trash hook and grab the cig wire and tap into them with the wire taps and it works like a charm. Last night I just installed my door lights and addded 3 LED lights to the bottom of my door. Looks good. I'm leaving town for the rest of the week but Monday I'll post a picture of the door on the SD forum.

I know. The thing that get's me is, that it can't cost that much. They charge $50.00 for the cab lights on a Dually. Theres 5 of them. Even it it was $200.00 for the glove/door light option. I would have gladly paid for it. How much money does Ford think they are saving? I think you can still get them, only in a special order truck. But when Dealers order the trucks, they don't get the lights. I don't understand.........
Hey Big Dually, this is kind of off the subject but My dad is wanting to order an 05 F-350 dually. Is it hard to park? Is hard to drive? I really want him to get it becuase those things look BAD A^*. I just bought an 04 F-150 FX4 so he's got the new truck fever. Maybe you can help me persuade him!
Ford-man22. The Dually is not that hard to park or get around in once you get used to it. No, you can't get into tight spaces, such as a crowded grocery store. At least I don't try it. I just park away from the crowd, and as a result no door dings, or some idiot placing a shopping cart inches from my truck. Also going through most drive throughs is not possible. I'm sure I could try harder, but I don't bother, it saves on the engine idle time anyway. Though, there are a few drive throughs in my area, that the trucks fits fine. Too me, having the Dually is well worth the sacrifice of all this. When towing, the truck is very stable. Driving on the streets or freeway is just as easy as a SRW. Dually's do look cool and what is nice is you get a beefy Dana 80 rear axle that is shared with the F-450. Tell your dad to get the Dually, you won't be disapointed, alot of people always pay me compliments on how nice the truck looks. And it's not even lifted, just bone stock with tinted front windows. Plus, if you ever get a 5th wheel, you'll be ready. Take care.
