Is there anyone out there running 35 in tires on there sd v-10 if so did it hurt the power? I know of one post that says it took away some power, anybody else have experience with this size tire.
I have 35s on an X with 6 inches lift, 3.73 gears and the only thing I noticed is highway cruising at around 60-65 when it needs to downshift on hills. It will pull great at 75-95, but it is a bit weak at low RPMs in OD where it was not before. In town seems to be the same with very negligibe difference. Mileage drop was also very little in town or highway.
35's...about 7" of lift and 4.10 gears. haven't really noticed any power loss. I do feel a difference going 55-60. it's not sure if it should stay in OD, unlock in OD, or just go to third. above 60 no difference then before.
I have 35's BFG with 6 in superlift and 4.30 Limited SLip. without overdrive i get incredible uphill power blowing by all the H2 and yukons. when i hit 2500rpm and engange o.d. it drops my rpm to 2000rpm at speeds of 65-70mph. I had 35 in. tires on it stock and did not notice a difference in power. It's the 4.30 LS.
When I put 315.75.16 BFG's(34.6") with a 4.30 gear, I found towing heavy (7500 -10000 lbs.) required Drive(3rd gear) most of the time. In order to use OD, the engine rpm needed to be above 2300. Speed was about 73 mph. The truck still felt lazy in OD until around 2500, even more mph. The question is do you tow? If so, how heavy?
I have 315x75x16's and 430 gears , the truck just gets up and goes , did have dealer adjust speedo for the tires , doesn't down shift any more than before . The reason I went with 315's was to take some gear out and to use less RPM and hope for better gas mileage . Didn't help as much as I hoped , but looks good with the leveling kit I needed to put the tires on .. Fred
Hey Fred, I bet you still get a little minor rubbing on your wells. I did, so I upgraded to a 6", so now i need bigger tires I will never justify my needs.
but looks good with the leveling kit I needed to put the tires on ..
What type of leveling kit did you put on your truck? Also you were able to put 35's on with just a leveling kit, was it a hanger kit or mini pack of springs
Yes they did rub at first but only on the springs , now after 16000 miles I don't notice as much , just don't turn that sharp I guess .. The leveling kit was a spring pack from J.C. Whitney ( tuff country I think , been just over a year ago ) Oh yea I did put 1/4 inch spacers on , I think if the tire shop would have gotten the right offset on the rims 16x8's I might have been alright .. A few months ago I put on a topper and now with the snow and ice 500 lbs of salt in the back might help also .. Fred
Running 37's with 3.73 gears. I know, sounds ridiculous but I do alot of highway driving so it didn't kill the motor too much in that respect. I'm going to upgrade to 4.88's with lockers when I get some money to do it. Always a project in progress.
On another note, I just pulled a 30' toy box trailer with a sand rail in it down to the dunes. Got about 4-5 mpg. Mostly sat in 3rd at 70-80mph. Regearing definitely would've helped.

Hey Fred, do you have any solid mileage before and after numbers?
