Hey just wanted to get some input on what will work off of other trucks like steering columns with auto shifter on column, disc brakes front and back, heating and air, lowering kits, and any other custom ideas would be great.
Welcome to Ford Truck Enthusiasts! If you have a minute check out the Guidelines, it will help you to navigate through and understand FTE.
Enjoy FTE ….. We are pleased you have chosen the best source for Fords!
See you on the boards.
the previous owner had done the swap and i must tell you, the truck isnt in the best of shapes, but all the PO did was cut a hole in the floorboard, took an exhaust clamp to hold the column up against the dash, and the linckage didnt seem to be that hard to adapt, it looks like he did something with the steering box like moved it but i dont know because i havnt really looked at where the proper place for it is. and yes the shift linkage is on the colomn
k thanks what are year model would be the same as the 84' lincoln and I've thought about going with a new style like a 70's model truck steering column cause I'm more than likely going to change my front end to a mustang 2 or something to the effect of. Or if you have heard of any other good idea's I interested in the cheapest way even if it takes fab. work. Have a shop so fab. work not a real big problem.
I have a tilt in my 63 from a 79 Lincoln Cont. I had to shorten it and I had to use different steering box parts, I think they were from a 64 Galaxie, that was to get a steering shaft with the rag joint.
what did it cost you to shorten it? Is there not a early 70's model or late 60's model truck steering column that will work with a shifter on the column and power steering without a butt load of mods?
