Hi guys! Since taking delivery of the Ex on Monday, I had a chance to get it in the garage last night and give it a good once-over.
Besides one door not turning on the dome lights, a never tightened nut on the exhaust and a couple missign rubber plugs...everything seems fine.
I did take notice that there is no underhood light. I seem to remember the SDs came with one. Does anyone know if I can just buy the lamp and harness to plug it in, or.....?
groundrat...I figured that Ford took them out at some time. As I understand it, the SDs no longer get a glovebox light..and mine has that. Another thing odd is that the doors only have red reflectors on the inside...no lights. Even my former '94 Bronco had lights there. (They were a good idea to warn oncoming traffic that a door was open or just to see better for entry.)

Ford made some running changes in '04 to save money. Things that may be missing:
Reflectors instead on lights in the doors.
No under hood light
No under hood insulation
No glovebox light
No rubber mat at the bottom of the center console
No rubber mat in the dash cubby
Single sunvisors instead or dual or split visors
There were a couple of others, I think, but I forget them now. These were changes to the SD and may not have been made on the X.
jschira...my '05 Ex does not have any of the items you have mentioned in your post...but it does have the glovebox light. Gonna see if the dealer can get the rubber mat for the console. (Putting brake controller in the dash cubby.)
Go to a bone yard and snag one of those underhood lights from a late 90's suburban. They have an on/off switch and it mounts to the pasenger fender. It is detachable and has like 15ft of cord. Real handy to have. Gonna get one one of these days.
