i just bought my '96 in june, have driven alot of others though. mine is and auto w/ 149,500 on it. between 1200 & 2000 rpm i notice an annoying droning sound that you can even feel in the floors too.
it will do it even in nuetral. thought it might have been a motor mount, but they are tight and not cracked.
i found a TSB that sounded similar but it said to install a revised motor mount on the left side.
the dealer i use had never sold the revised part# or heard of the problem either.
i was wondering it it was the TC too.
the only other thing that i see that need to be changed are the rear cab mounts. they appear to be ballooned-as the steel sleeves are rotted inside them. but i find it hard to believe that they are the culprit.
I dont have any ideas yet. what trans do you have, auto right? when was the last time you changed the fliud&filter? may be you can have some one inside keeping it at the right rpm to make the niose and you can crawl around underneith tringto find it. good luck J
