C8AE- U head casting number?
Digging around in my favorite junk yard today. Was looking at an FE motor, in an old Merc.. I had looked at this motor several times before, wondering what size it was. Today, I checked the casting number on the heads, and this is the number I found. I came home and checked my handy dany new cross refference book, but couldn't find any such number. Anyone have any idea if these are anything special? While I'm at it, I also looked at some C1AE heads, and checked those out when I got home, in the same book, and again, I'm confused. This time, it's about the intake port size. These heads had taller ports than others I looked at today, and longer than any I have. When I checked the book, it said the port size was the same as most of the others, but this was not the case, and didn't look to be modified? I also noticed, a set of these same heads on Ebay, and the spiel mentioned the tall ports. Is this just a mistake on the book writers part?
