I was actually wondering if this should go in the appearance forum...Well, I'm here now and if I'm in the wrong place, I'm sure all the rent-a-moderators will come yellin'.
I just got some authentic rear door storage bins for my Excursion off of e-bay for $26!!!! (I did talk tothe Ford dealer I bought them from. It's legite.) I was getting ready to order them from my dealer for $140.00. Whew...glad I waited. Small problem though...they're blue and my interior is tan. Hey...Stop laughing!
So, my question is that of vinyl paint. I know it's out there! I've already seen a lot of places that carry it. What I want to know is if anyone has used it and what were the results? What brand would you recommend? Do I have to buy pre-made colors or can this stuff be matched to meet my color requirements? Can I put it on with a roller?? just jokin'... Does it look half way decent? I'm not going to be real **** about it since it's way out back. Does it flake off after awhile? If it won't work, wanna buy some rear door cargo bins for an Excursion for ONLY $75.00!!
Why not take the ones you bought and try and work out a deal with the dealer, maybe you could trade for a small fee.
Just my 2 cents

I used Mar-Hyde brand vinyl spray paint on the dash pad AND back seat of an old CJ-7 I used to have (don't worry, it's gone, traded it even up for a 79 F250 4x4 with a dump bed on it) and it held up great for over 4 years. I used to leave it sit out all summer with the roof off in all kinds of weather and it would still shine up with armor all. I had painted black over tan, and the only places it came off were where our 130 pound Great Dane clawed into the rear seat a couple times getting in and out.
However, I am pretty sure the dealer carries stuff to do this too. I'd check with a Ford dealer that has a body shop and they can probably steer you in the right direction.
I've done lots of Vinyl Colour change in my mustang restoration days.
It's actually really easy and the outcome is More than satisfactory
You can buy Vinyl dye at you local NAPA paint shop, or other Automotive Paint related Store.
You will need some Plastic prep for plastic parts and a good de-greaser for the vinyl plus Vinyl prep.
I have used laquer thinner for this.
You can purchase a PREVAL Paint system for under $15 .
It comes with an aerosol sprayer with a screw on jar to hold the dye.
It's like painting with a spray bomb.
You have to make sure you're in a warm ventilated area and the piece to be dyed and the dye itself are warm.
1) Degrease
2) Clean with Prep.
3) Paint with Dye as mainy coats as it takes > Usually 3 to cover everything perfectly.
Allow a deal of time to cure to avoid marking.

I used vinyl dye to change the color of my boat upholstery from black and white to solid black. It held up well through a lot of water from wet bathing suits and rain. I just recently used it to cover the tan with gray on my console add-on. Got it at Summit Racing for about $14.
I just painted dash for my 86 F150 and it looks stock. Don't laugh I didn't think it would work but I was told to use a sponge brush because it is like water. I did and it looks awesome. I wish i had have taken my time to do it because I missed some spots. I went from Tan to Blue. I took a piece of my old dash into my NAPA store and they had a book that I just matched it up to and they mixed up the paint. I put 4 coats on and I think I only used about 200ml.
