I have a $25 gift certificate at a book store and I'm wondering what are some good books that deal our trucks and small block ford engines? Does anyone have the T Brownell's "How to restore your Ford truck"? Is it good?
I have the T Brownell book, which is a great read if you are staying stock. It was a good motivator and for novice restorers, covers how to organize the build. It has some good general info on body work, driveline etc.
Since I have gone from the stock restoration, I rely more now on Haynes, shop manual for application specific parts iinfo.
If you plan on modifying your suspension system or are concerned with vehicle dynamic and handling I'd recommend "Tune to Win" by Carroll Smith. Concise explanations in laymen's terms with no BS.
I bought and am returning the "Ford F-Series Pickup Owner's Bible: A Hands-On Guide to Getting the Most from Your F-Series Pickup (Ford)" as it doesn't have the specific details I am looking for. I have ordered two books as replacements "Classic Ford F-Series Pickup Trucks: 1948-1956" by Don Bunn and "How to Restore Your Ford Pickup"
By: Tom Brownell mentioned below. I will also shortly pickup the original ford shop manual(s). I'll let you know what I think in a week or two.
