Exhaust Back Pressure???

does anyone know what the proper back preeure should normally be on a stock '96psd?
my datastream shows 15-17psi from idle to 2500 in nuetral.
is this normal?
i am trying to diagnose a faulty EBPV and i need to make sure this is proper, if this seems too high then i assume that may be why the actuator does not move.
thanks guys.

i have no clue about how much pressure but my ebpv quit on my 96 and the only thing i can think of is the exhaust backpressure sensor b/c that is what my superchip is tellin me when i do a diagnostic test on it.

I'm guessing that's higher than it should be.

In general, the exhaust backpressure will run roughly twice the boost when loaded. I'm not really sure what the unloaded pressures should read, but I would think that at idle the pressure should be virtually nil.

me too! on a gas motor less than 1psi is expected. more than 1.5psi means a clogged cat or muff.

Your datastream says the pressure never changes even though you are increasing engine speed? That sounds like a faulty sensor to me - not a bad EBPV. I am not saying that the EBPV is good, just that I think your sensor is bad too.

You'll never see me disagree with that. Of course, some folks are using it as a brake....

I agree with Kwikk- Also you may want to check the tube for an obstruction.
