I recently bought a 93 F-150 XLT 4X4 and had milage issues. Here's what I did:
change the air filter, check tire pressure, add some injector cleaner, check the brakes for binding. I started with about 8mpg, now getting about 12, which seems about the average for a full size ford. Good Luck!

I have a 1989 F-250 with a 351 EEC-IV engine, C6 transmission w/o overdrive and 33" wheels. My gas mileage sucks: 6 mpg. Put new plugs, wires cap rotor, egr valve and sensor, new thermostat, new air cleaner,

I picked up my '95 F150 (5.8 - 2wd) about a month ago. I drive from Maine to Boston a few days a week.... First time I took the truck I got 12.5 mpg. Then - gave it a complete tune up (all filters) - new brakes - new bearings - etc... I now get about 15. So - that helps. You can probably get a BIT more....

Yea, ok a truck gets bad mileage, but how bad is bad?? I get 8mpg and that is UNNACEPTABLE, even for a truck (302).
