hi, new to the board, i have a few quetions, first, can the motor and trans be pulled together, i have a 390 w 3 speed, second can someone tell me the rear end ratio, the numbers on the tag are web 51 95b, 009 86h. thanks for your help. nice board.
I'd look at the tag again as I don't see any rears listed in the 57 thru 72 truck parts book as a "WEB". Closest I see are WEV-A, etc.. The tag should have the W**-* on the top row and the second row should give the ratio. THe 8th digit you list is a B?. Could it possibly be a 3? If so, it's a 3.00 ratio. Re-check the tag again and post again.
Welcome aboard; I can answer the first part of your question; The removal of both engine & trans together is a yes; However I recomend you remove your radiator and fan assembly prior to trying; also the link of both the eng & trans should clear and not drag the ground; but if for some reason they do; you can raise the front end of the truck slightly to allow more clearance; its definitely a two or more person job to accomplish smoothly;
You have tape into a awesome web site fill with enthusiast that really care and support the love of FORD'S; I recomend reading the READ FIRST addition on each forum for excellent info and guidance as well;
Again Welcome Aboard.
Unless you put a 390 in there, it's probably a 352 cube engine. Most 65 and 66 F100 trucks came with a 3.25 rear gear, but I've seen a few 3.50. A lot of the 6 cylinders came with the 3.70.
The bottom row of the tag says it all. It's a 3.00 ratio and there's no "L" between the 3 and the 00, so it's not a posi rear. Next number is a "9",so it's a Ford 9 inch rear. The next 3 are a date of manufacture on the axle. I'm not sure as it doesn't break that down in the parts book.
I my parts books, all the WE series axles are for E-100 series vans. THere's no WEB series listed. I don't have the 73-79 books, so I'm not sure, but I think you've got a later transplant there. Look on your vin tag and post what it shows for a axle code. It should be a 3 digit code. If you want, post everything on that tag (both rows) and it can be deciphered as to what's supposed to be on that truck( engine, trans, interior trim, etc...)
F10= F100 2wd
Y= This code indicates diesel, but none were offered in pickups You have a 300 I6 as you indicated.
N= Norfolk, Va assembly plant
884,905= Late 66 assy, out of 914,000
Trans code C= 3 speed column shift
Axle Code 17= 3.25 ratio
Going by what you posted, your rear axle was swapped out somewhere in it's life.
What book did you get the "Y" code from? My 64-72 Parts catalogs don't show it as a 352. He indicated he had a 390, or so he says. I made a mistake saying 300 I6. ( brain fart).If it is indeed a 390, obviously it's been swapped sometime in it's life.

Here you go, this is my "quick" reference page. I also have this data from one of my parts catalogs. The "Y" code was 352 for a 1966 and 1967 then a 360 from 1968 on. For what it's worth, the 390 was an "H" code and I do not beleive they offered those until 1969... I was not going to address the availability of the 390 in 66, it could have been a swapped in car motor, at least based on the engine tag JB found. Of course we all know that these trucks only came with 390's
