Hello friends
have a 02 PS CC lariat, 4 X 4 with about 115,000 miles
the transmision is jumping around all over the place, sometimes not wanting to go into 5th gear, jumping around in the lower gears, other times no problems at all. Noticed that the OD light doesn't work and when pressed does nothing. Had the fluid changed and the filter replaced. transmision place said the trany needs rebuilt, but never said anything about the OD, and am wondering could the OD light/wire have anything to do with the trans slipping?
Also any good transmision shops in Houston TX?
thanks
Michael
hello friends
ran a code reader and here is what i am getting
0732- gear 2 ratio error
0781-1-2 shift error
0783- 3-4 shift error
1247- turbo boost low pressure
Was the tranny working alright before the fluid change. If so somthing smells fishy. If not than it could be shot. Let us know. Low turbo pressure could be because the computer is bleeding off pressure because of the bad tranny.

Hello friends
No it was acting up before the shop visit. Haven't had it but several months so did not have any history of the truck, thought maybe it just needed a new filter. The shop didn't even notice that the OD light didn't work, altho i know it did at one time. Seems that the OD not working and the tranny acting up seemed to start at around the same time.
thanks
Michael
Not to sure what to say? I would check all my fuses and get under the truck and make sure all electrical conections on tranny are clean and tight. Maybe someone else can shed some light on things. Sorry i can't be of more help to you. Hope you get figured out!!
Check the wire harnesses under the hood and going down to the transmission for chaffing, loose or corroded connectors. It sounds like you might have an electrical problem.

Hello friends
Thanks for the help. Also want to point out that the overdrive lights not working and the button does nothing, as it once did. Read that that problem may be in the shift lever or wiring in the column. any possiblies that there might be something in there causing the problems with the shifting?
thanks
Michael
I doubt it. I'm not saying there isn't a bare wire in the lever wiring. But all that effects is the OD. It shouldn't set the other codes you listed. Have you checked for any blown fuses?

Will check fuses today. Any specific ones to look at or all the fuses? I looked in the manual and didn't see any that pertained to the transmision.
Drove the truck last night and now it did not ever go into 5? gear. The top gear. it shifted ok up to the last gear and never went into it. at about 50mph was at 2000 rpms.
will try to take the column apart today also.
thanks for the help.

The transmission is a four speed, with a lockup torque converter. When the torque converter locks it feels like a shift, so that's why you feel four shifts and think it's a five speed.
The codes show that at one time it couldn't make a 1-2 shift, and it also noticed that it wasn't in 2nd gear when it should have been. Also, at one time it couldn't make a 3-4 shift.
I don't think it's electrical because there are other codes that tell when there is an electrical problem. My SWAG (Silly Wild A Guess) is that there is a bunch of junk in the transmission, and some of that junk has been sticking valves in the valve body. What does the fluid look like now? Did they use MERCON V fluid? That fluid will tear up a 4R100, and then you'll need a rebuild.

I just had the same problem on my '01 F-350. It first started where it wouldn't go into 4 or OD. After a bit the OD light began to blink. Dealer claimed it was the solenoid which they then replaced. When I got it back it wouldn't hardly pull itself in reverse and had all kinds of slippage when towing. I ended up replacing the entire thing. It sounds like your problems are very similar to the ones I just had. Replacement was $3100.
I had a similar problem with a 200 ranger. turned out that the gaskets between the valve body were bad.
Synthetic fluid and higher line pressures were the cause. Updated gaskets cured problem
