79 tailgate

What year tailgate will fit a 1979? Will a 1971 fit. Thanks

Dude they are different it will not fit. try anything from a 73-81 I have a 78 just in case you dont believe me

73-79 tailgates are the same, I have seen earlier ones on the trucks also. I have even seen 70's tailgates on 80's trucks. You should be able to get it to work.

A 71 tailgate will fit. They are different but it will fit.

Yes it will fit, the body lines will be different.

What the last two guys said... It will fit. The body lines are close, but not the same. Most people won't know if the color is the same as the rest of the truck. I had a tailgate from a '70 on my '79 for years. I finally found one from a '73-'79 truck to replace it with.
