Where can I find a new 8-foot box for my 2003 Lariat? How much is a used one likely to set me back? Is it true that boxes from 1997 thru 2003 are interchangeable (ignoring the flareside group in this case)? My box got twisted when an auto transport in tow suddenly jack-knifed on black ice so it needs to be replaced but I can't find one. The internet searches I've tried come up pretty much empty, as well. This is getting frustrating and my now-ugly truck is yelping for help!! :-) Thanks to anyone and everyone who might be able to help me!!
I'm assuming that the party that hit your truck has insurance. What is your incentive to hunt down a used box? Wouldn't a new one (paid for by the other party's insurer) be more appropriate on a vehicle this new?

There was no other vehicle involved and my insurance excluded use of a trailer for business purposes...we had negotiated that to make a rate that was even remotely reasonable...so, I am stuck with the cost to repair. Unless I am missing my guess by a bunch, this will still be much, much cheaper than paying those ridiculous premiums year after year. If not, then this will be another life lesson learned; albeit the hard way. Therefore, a new, used, reclaimed, etc. box is what I need sources for to solve my dilemma. Again, any information leading to one of those sources will be of great help to me. Thanks.
Ah, misread your thread. Where is the nearest auto recycler (auto junkyard)? If it's a large yard, you can bet that they have at least one or two 1997-2003 F-150, or 2004 F-150 Heritage trucks.
Is the entire box ruined, or do you think it can be repaired? www.fordparts.com lists an entire 8 ft. box, but don't seem to have any, they also have repair panels. As pointed out above, a salvage yard would be the best option if you have any in your area.
Seek out topper dealers, they often also convert trucks to utility bodies and sell off the boxes. Also, commercial truck outfitters might have leads (the folks who mount the toolboxes and ladder racks to work vehicles).
Thanks for the tip...I will check out that website and try to track down any others that might be in my area. I genuinely appreciate the help of all you in this forum and on this Ford friendly site!!
