Anyone build a Welding booth?

I was wondering if anyone has built themselves a welding booth. I just bought a mig welder, and would like to build a safe place to practice welding. I have a large metal table (60" industrial type) that I want to mount a vise on. Then I thought I would cover the wall behind the table with a piece if sheet metal. The table butts up to an old fridge on one side so the sparks/ splatter should be contained. Anyone have any other suggestions... or maybe some pics of their set up? Also what forum is used to discuss welding?

Where I work they have their own welding school, and the booths are about 2' deep and 3' wide. I would be cautious about welding too close to a fridge, though. I would definitely have it at least on the other side of the shop. Freon, when it burns, makes phosgene gas, which seemed to be the tool of choice for the *****. This stuff is so deadly, you won't know what happened to you. No PELs, no smell, just out. Having said that, make sure that the sides and back are somewhat sealed to the table. A flanged edge on top of the table with a stitch weld (one inch bead, two inch space, one inch bead) will be fine. Sparks can be kinda tricky about escaping and starting a fire. Have a spray bottle, like an old 409 bottle, filled with water within easy reach. Also, stick around for about a half hour after you finish welding, just to make sure that nothing is hiding, smoldering. Other than that, sounds like you're on your way to a well set up shop.

I don't have a booth as such but I do contain my welding to one area of my shop where I try to keep any grinding and such, this minimizes cleanup and hazard. I try to maintain a "metal only" garbage can to prevent fires and it's close to the door for ventilation if required. What I'd really like is some kind of exhaust fan in that area at least, better throughout the shop.

I know at the welding school here, we use what look like shower curtains, except they are a thicker plastic that does not burn. This way you can pull it all around you, enclosing the welding area. They are also tinted so the person beside you doesn't get as bright of a light in their eye if their mask is up. Just a thought.

That plastic material is availible from Harbor I know, its good stuff as it allows other people to work in the shop w/out worrying about if you're welding.
