I have a couple of problems, hopefully someone can help me with. To begin, I have a 2001 F250 CC 7.3L with an auto trans. I washed down the motor Wednesday, then took it out to warm up, and dry off any water left on the motor. As I was driving, every time I would apply the brakes and release them, my speedometer would drop out just for a split second. I think it was corresponding with the brake lights activating, and de activating. Since then, my speedometer has stopped working altogether, except once in a while it will work for a few minutes in the morning. My cruise control is still working fine, Is there 2 different speed sensors for this, and where would they be located?

My second problem is that my overdrive light started blinking Friday night. I can drop it out of overdrive, and put it back into overdive with no problems. This blinking just lasted for maybe 10 minutes or so, then stopped blinking. no problem with that since then. Anyone have any advice??

many of your issues point to the speed sensor on the rear end but Maybe you got water somewhere and its shorting out at times... My 2 cents.

Would the cruise still work if that was out? My cruise control still works, and the OD light isn't flashing any more. No SES light or any other indicators. Anyone have an idea?
