2001 5.4 engine vibration
Hi Guys, My 2001 Sd With The 5.4 Gasser Has An Awful Engine Or Manifold Vibration At Cold Startup. It Does Not Go Away Until The Engine Has Warmed Up And Never Completely Goes Away. I Know I've Read Other Posts With The Same Problem. Any Advise Or Info Would Be Very Appreciated. Thanks.

The only thing I know of that can cause a vibration at start up and get better is a cyl missing and the usual thing to cause a cyl to drop out is a coolant leak into the chamber. Usually plugs coils etc get worse when they get hot but there's always exceptions like moisture around a cracked plug boot..Check for coolant usage and white smoke. I hope thats not the problem.

Are you describing a noise or a vibration ? a rattling sound
If its a noise I would say you have piston slap.That simmers down after it warms up. But if its a heisation or miss I'd listen to what 99 said

Ya, its a rattling sound that makes noise like a vibration and it does mostly go away after warm up. It it is piston slap, is there a fix? Or is it worth it. Thanks for responding, that gives me a clue.
