Ebpv Does Not Work!

does anyone know the criteria that the pcm needs to see to operate the EBPV?
oil temp? IAT? ECT?
12VDC 0r 5VDC?
possibly just a bad actuator but i would rather do the domplete diagnosis first.
looked in my mitchell on demand at work and could not locate a schematic or a flow chart for it though.

i disconected the valve rod and the butterfly moves freely, but it does not actuate no matter how cold it is.

i would also like to turn it into and exhaust brake once i get it working.

Simple solution, just turn it into an exahaust brake and don't worry about it. Or if it's stuck open, just don't worry about it.

besides, you cannot use it as a brake unless you make it actually move first.

the ebp sensor is a variable capacitance sensor thats fed with 5 volts that produced a liniar analog voltage to indicate exaust back presure to control valve...

No, it isn't really needed for a proper warm up though as long as the actuator works you can still use it for warm up as well as a brake. When you exit the truck flip the switch so that when you remote start it will close (although the key still works fine.). You can get a ebpv sensor eliminator from DieselStop if you decide to just use it just for a brake so that a bad sensor doesn't defuel it like an overboost signal.

There are several lengthy posts on converting to a brake on this site and all are basically alike.

what i am getting is if the actuator does not move now, then adding a switch will not help if the actuator is bad. so i need to fix that before i go any further w/it.
thanks

.
Oil temp below 167*F, IAT below 45*F, 5vdc. According to the book, ECT controls fuel delivery.

Oh! Don't forget to check the exhaust back-pressure sensor on the front of the engine. An open or short will disable the exhaust back-pressure control.

I had the sensor go bad and it stored a code in the pcm . Until you clear the code the valve will not operate.
