all the sudden a have a real real low clutch pedal, no leaks have the hiem joint in place of the moronic plastic bushing. is there anymore adjustmenst somewhere?? its the 6 speed that has the problem bending and braking clutch forks isnt it? fluid is clean. any ideas?
i got some tips from the guys at TDS need more than 11mm of slave travel....
the hiem is wirth every penny no more stupid plastic crap. a 1/4 air grinder or dremel and cut it as close to the eye as you can. something else i noticed right now i have to stand as hard as i can on the clutch pedal to get it far enough to start unless i use my cheater button...im wondering if thats where my problems are.....wonder if firewall is flexing or master has come loose????
Definatly look into the clutch pedal flex thing and get that taken care of before you pull the trans.
One question about the firewall flex thing - is the pedal effort unusually high when you push down on the clutch? I've seen lot's of clutches at the end of thier life be extremely stiff but still work. Don't know why the pressure plates have to bind up like that, but they get stiff enough to break the release fork. The only cure was a new clutch.
ok got the problem fixed, the set screw in my hiem joint came loose. easy fix....
i used some of the grey IH silicone to hold in a little better i wouldnt use loctite on it if you did you'll probably never get it out again. a lesson i learned today dont use a rachet with an 11" handle on a 1/8 allen head, broke the allen bit.....a bigger set screw in the hiem would be an improvement...
Ahh, right on. Glad for you that it was an easy fix. I would have been surprised if that Luk clutch would have broken the fork, the pedal effort is a lot less than the Ford pressure plate.
its still not what id like it to be though, i havent worked lately on getting the plug out of the bottom of the trans its in there good. i was dumb and put some lucas in there to try and smooth out the shifts (really dumb) with the cold weather we have had down here i think thats part of my problem. i know the trans needs syncros, when i bought it the trans had gear oil and atf in it....and i cracked the case last year so im lookin for a 6 speed and gonna rebuild that and put it in or find a reman for a reasonable price. the remans just have such an insane core charge right now on the 6 speed like $2000 and the core on a 5 is $400. i got most of that lucas out through the pto cover. im gonna put thoose coolers on the trans that they have at dieselsite that will incrase my fluid cap and give me somewhere to put the temp probe.
quick how is your 6 speed from 3rd to second when your moving??
