What a night!

Went to work yesterday...snow falling, with some ice pellets mixed in for fun. By the time I'd been at work an hour we'd had over 25 cm of snow(roughly 10 inches) by the time I left at 1am-ish, we'd had well over 30 cm of snow...and the wind had been blowing for a few hours. Spent the first hour and a half pushing my work mate through a snowbank that was twice the length of my truck(4-lo-lock, with spare tire between the bumpers to defer the height difference) Anyways...finally made it through after an hour and a half of pushing, gave another fellow work-mate a ride home, and punched the way through for the remaining crew members behind me so their lower slung cars could make it with a run at it. Snow in places had drifted as high as the hood of the truck, and I was not only amazed, but very impressed with the old girl's prowess at handling the deep stuff. Even with 31 inch tires I was pushing snow in the lowest of places with the front bumper trying to punch the way through, and often ended up backing and taking another run at the next drift....took a total of almost 4 hours to get home...normally a 30 minute trip on a slow day.

Here, after we got all the snow (we go almost 13 inches), it took me over 45 minutes to go what would nornally have taken 10, I wasn't brave/stupid enough to be out while it was snowin.

I'm used to snow, but this got a bit rediculous up where I work as there is an opened field on one side of the road, and nothing but flat roof buildings with large open spaces in between. It creates a wind tunnel effect, as well as some serious snow accumulation. Driving in snow here is a normal event in the winter time...it just means slow down and use more caution than normal.

That's why I moved back to ohio, I live in the plains in indiana for about 8 years. No trees, just 15 miles of farmland on either side of the house, it would snow 4 inches, and I'd have a 4 foot deep, 12 foot long snow bank in my driveway.

I miss the snow. Here all we get is rain, and lots of it. If it does snow (and it's supposed to tomorrow night) it's only a little bit, maybe an inch or so. Rain, more rain, and mud. Wanna trade? -TD

That's the only down side I have seen since I moved to the Kitsap Peninsula a little over a year ago- no snow. Last year was a hard winter, a whole 6" of snow. Nothing so far this year. What keeps me here is the mountains, the ocean and the trees. If CT had this kind of a winter, I wouldn't have even stopped there.

snow in canada some times reminds me of the winter of 94-5 here in nj, started as rain went to snow real heavy and fast. 38 miles home from work. the av. time for the drive was 18 hours and two tanks of gas , t.g. the f150 had two tanks and both of mine where full, last week a 1/2 inch fall cars all over side ways into ditches evey one for got how to drive in it again. have a safe winter in the north country every one.

Last year we got burried with 3 1/2 feet of snow over 2 days, my F-150 was amazing...it loves snow. Nothin like stopping in 3 feet of snow, and then taking off hard w/ pleanty of traction....dual lockers and big tires make it very enjoyable

From: Destin/Ft. Walton Beach,
I had a weather related problem yesterday. I threw on a T shirt and a sweatshirt, and went and had breakfast. I had to remove the sweatshirt, since I started to sweat. It got up to 76 degrees and sunny. Gotta love Florida.
