cruise control problem 1987f150
the brake switch seems to work ok. i get 12 volts on depressing the petal. the test on the servo caused the engine to speed up ok when i went through section "servo functional test".
the vss tested through the 6 wire connector going into the amplifier did not show voltage when i ran it through a voltmeter while drving. however, the antilock brakes also use the vss output and the antilock light on the dash indicates that the rear antilock brakes are ok.
i checked the switches on the steering wheel with an ohm meter and they seem to be ok. the fuses also seem ok.
i suspect the clockspring although i am not really sure and getting no voltage on the vss concerns me somewhat. how much trouble is it to change the clockspring and how can i know if this is the problem unless i so change it. the ford dealer says that new ones are not available now and i will have to get one from the junkyard.
thanks
