I have my truck parked most of the time, its a 04 psd, should I put biocide in the tank? when i say parked I mean its started about once every 3 or 4 weeks and never runs through a tank on the day its started.
I only need it to pull my boat and its winter so aint much boating going on
I'm no expert, but my dad had diesel in his aux tank for about six months, pumped it into the main on a long trip, plugged both filters within about 15 miles. The dealer told him to always use biocide when the diesel is stored for any length of time. (weeks-months)
I'd consider it cheap insurance. Murphys Law says you'll start the truck, hook up the boat, drive 10 miles, then the filters will plug.

IMO use a fuel additive...like Stanadyne (or a brand you like)…I have left my truck for over a five weeks without ever being started…no issues at all.
Keep the tank full and that will help reduce the amount of water you pick up from condensation.
The alge lives in the water in the fuel and feeds off the fuel. Eliminate either one (water would be my choice ) and the alge can't live.
A good fuel stabilizer will help with the water, but a dose of biocide now and then can't hurt. I have been looking for but not yet found some of the PRI-D biocide to try in my truck. The PRI-D stabilizer seems to work fine in my truck so far.
According to a marketing person at BP/Amoco, diesel is good for about 6 months. He said, that due to storage and transporation times, 4 - 5 months would be a better guage to use.
1) Use a antigel, cetane booster additive - good for all the time anyway.
2) Fill tank 100% full - eliminates water/moisture/condensation (same thing)
3) If yo use your truck, run it for several miles to fully warm up and burn off any moisture in your oil and in ehaust system - short trips are hard on all vehicles.
4) If you can by Biocide at a good price, I guess go ahead and use it - it won't hurt anything. Not even sure where to buy it myself since I have never used it.
I agree, if you are not running your truck regularly use a biocide. Most people will never have the need for it, but in your case I would recommend it.
