Anyone interested in the cabovers? I have several that I am converting to hotrod haulers...would like to hear if anyone else is involved in these type of projects.
I'm not necessarily 'into' these trucks, but do think that they can be pretty cool. There is one for sale at the place I got my F-100 from, don't recall the year though. Check it out at ...automuseumgallery.com
I really like the look of them, and there are several running around here. Kind of disappointing, tho, most have a new big-block riding behind the cab, or a Toronado/ElDorado FWD set-up. Most are set up as car-haulers, but because of the rear engine they end up towing them on a trailer. I have a couple pics of some neat ones, email me if you want to see them. There is one that I see regularly called "PUG", an early-40's Ford I think.
I have two 49 cabovers, one I'm building and a parts truck. Using a 300 six and a 435 four speed with the two speed rear axle. Cabovers are a different kind of duck and that is just my style, something different (and hard to find parts for). Does this project have a name? Certainly, it's the "Two Story Truck"! Tom
Glad to see that there outhers interested in COE's. I have a 54 Ford COE with a rollback bed, 48 Ford COE I am making into a fifth wheel hauler, 55 Ford F750 COE that will also be a fifth wheel hauler with a sleeper compartment, and a 48 Chevy COE and will make a Hodge bed with sleeper. All the trucks have front mounted engines in the orginal compartments. The 54 COE is complete except for interior (currently installing RodDoors package) it has a 460 with C6 tranny. Pics are available.
