I was attempting to hard wire a satellite radio today and I snipped something I shouldn't have. There are five colored wires that come out of the back of the a/c controller on the dash and then hit a plug-in behind the glove box. I accidentally cut one of those wires and now the dashboard a/c vents don't work. The defrost and the back seat vents do operate. What is the name of the part I've ruined and would this cause the dash vents not to operate? Is it easy to replace this part (easy for someone with limited ability such as myself) and how much would one cost? Thanks in advance for your help.

as jonm61 posted just splice the wires back together even if you have to add a short piece of wire. it's not the best in that the really best way would be to remove the wire you cut entirely, and replace if but you need the special tool to remove the ends from the plug in terminals, and the terminal itself plus the crimper for them and this would work just fine under the dash were it's not getting hit with water, and such.
just cutting a wire shouldn't have hurt any components at all unless you shorted it to battery voltage, and it's supposed to be a low volt circiut, and I sincerly doubt it, but if splicing it doesn't work then we need to think farther.
I just looked at the cut again and I doesn't appear that splicing is an option. It's not really a wire but a tube. I've attached the ends together with tape as a quick fix, but the a/c still isn't working. Any guesses as to what in the world I have done?
it's a vacum tube you will need a piece of hose that will slide over it really tight for a good fit and maybe just a small amount of silicon over it when you slide the hose on
Go to an auto parts store and buy a piece of 1/8 inch vacuum hose, cut off a 2 to 3 inch piece and use it to splice the plastic tubing back together by pushing the tubing into each end.
