I'm looking at buying an F550 with a Dana 135 differential that currently has 4.88:1 ratio. I would like to change them to 4.10:1 if I buy the pick-up. Ford dealer says that ratio is not available but Dana website shows otherwise. Does anyone know if 410s can be put in?
Thx

Don't have any personal experience with this, but call around to some of the medium/heavy duty truck shops in your area. They will most likely be able to assist you.
As for changing them, you might also look into a secondary overdrive unit, such as the GearVendors unit, if you want a taller gear. This will enable you to run a taller gear, with the lower gear available at the press of a button, in case you ever need it.

The 4.10's are probably available from Dana for the Dana 135 axle, but you lose the heavy towing capability of the truck by switching the ratio. I agree with PSD60LFX4 about adding an aftermarket OD/gear splitter unit for double ovedrive instead of changing the ratio. Check out www.gearvendors.com and www.usgear.com. You also get the benefit of half-step gearing between each regular tranny gear which keeps the engine right in it's powerband in every gear for pulling really heavy loads. The Gear Vendors is rated to 26K GCWR and 19K GVWR, same as the F550 is rated.
If you really want the 4.10's, most axle/driveline shops can order Dana/Spicer gear sets. I got Dana/Spicer 4.56's for my Dana 60 from a local shop when I had my gear change done.
I would recommend you call Randy's Ring and Pinion. They have good selection and prices. I just regeared a Dana 80 with a rare 3.54 gear. Randy had them in stock. No one else did. http://www.ringpinion.com/
I don't know if they will have the parts you need but it is worth the call.
