<CENTER>2004 5R110 Defective Transmissions</CENTER>02 Jan 2005
Ford will advise dealers that 2004 F250, F350, F450, F550, Econoline vans and Excursions may have defective 5R110 Torq-Shift transmissions. The transmissions may have low reverse gear set pinion shaft(s) that may walk out. Should this condition occur, metallic particles may contaminate the transmission leading to harsh/slipping conditions and or harsh/delayed forward/reverse engagements. If these symptoms occur and are ignored, the transmission may fail.
This advisory includes all products listed above that were built from 08 March 2004 through 24 June 2004.
Dealers are advised to, at no cost to consumers, replace the reverse planet assembly on all affected vehicles before sale to a consumer and repair any affected vehicles that arrive at their dealership, whether or not the consumer has received a letter from Ford or not.
If the transmissions are repaired in a timely manner, secondary transmission damage can be avoided.
This program will remain in effect to 30 September 2005.

tsb 04b24 reverse planatary set replace as in www.flatratetech.com, also check out www.plowsite.com in the ford forum the 05 250 are cracking the cases when plowing from some pin inside breaking allowing a gear set to move and crack the case .i have not found a tsb number yet but it also states they are to repair at no charge, but!it also states replacement tranies are on hold, please read it for your selfs
